A RECKLESS rider swerved into oncoming traffic on an off-road bike and drove "dangerously" at a PCSO, Southampton police have said.

Officers warn someone will be seriously hurt if the culprit continues to roam the streets around popular parks.

A suspect on a yellow scrambler bike was seen riding dangerously on Wimpson Lane and on the Millbrook Roundabout near KFC at around 2pm on Sunday.

The bike is described as yellow and white with the number ‘83’ on the side. Police believe the rider is often seen around Mansel Park and Green Park alongside similar white bikes.

PC Sarah Miller said: “Many families and dog walkers were enjoying a sunny Sunday afternoon in the parks. They were subjected to a display of irresponsible and dangerous driving by this rider. At times the rider almost lost control of the vehicle. A PCSO was then driven at and circled.

“Riding these bikes irresponsibly is a common occurrence in the area and there are fears that somebody will get seriously hurt.

“The riders are often unlicensed, uninsured and on bikes that are not road worthy. They are riding across parks used by dog walkers and children and close to play parks.

“The team are confident that with the support of the community they can tackle this issue by seizing bikes and dealing with the offenders."
