POLICE have launched an investigation after a suspected dognapping.
Two dogs, a chocolate brown working springer spaniel and a red setter, became separated from their owner when they were being walked near to Broughton Down at about 8am on Sunday.
The owner could not find them but went home as the dogs have previously run off but returned home.
A witness called police at about 11.30am to say that she had found the red setter in a field.
However she also said she saw the springer spaniel being put into a white flatbed lorry by a man before it was driven away.
The man is described as tall and having dark hair.
The dog, called Baxter, is four years old and microchipped, and has a white patch on his chest and a blue collar with his owner's telephone number on it.
Officers at Hampshire Constabulary say they want to speak to the men to find the dog, and other residents who may have information.
PC Stephen Rogerson, said: “I am appealing for anyone with information about Baxter’s whereabouts to come and speak to us as soon as possible.
"If you think you know where he is, or who may have him, please get in touch and tell us what you know.”
Anyone with information should contact the police on 101, quoting reference 44160135956.
