A WOMAN and child had a lucky escape when their car collided with a motorway crash barrier near Hedge End and flipped on to its roof.

The drama happened at about 12.30pm yesterday on the westbound lane of the M27 between Eastleigh and Hedge End.

Emergency services rushed to the scene to find the Renault Laguna on its roof. No other vehicle was involved.

Paramedics treated the woman, who had minor neck injuries. It is understood that the child was not hurt.
