A BODYBUILDER who hid thousands of pounds worth of drugs in his underwear has been ordered to pay back £4,500 made from dealing.

Jack William James Phillips – who came second in a bodybuilding competition last year - wept after he admitted dealing mephedrone during a hearing at Winchester Crown Court.

As previously reported, the court heard that he was carrying £1,092 in cash and an ounce of the class B drug when he was arrested.

Recorder Nicholas Atkinson sentenced him to 12 months in prison, suspended for two years, with 150 hours of unpaid community work.

Phillips was released from custody in December but returned to the courtroom on Friday last week for the application hearing under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

Judge Susan Evans ordered that the 26-year-old, of St Anns Close, Andover, must pay a total of £4,527.70, £2,092 of which has already been paid.

Nicholas Cotter for the prosecution said: “I am pleased to say that there is an agreement. Mr Phillips accepts the total benefit of £4527.70.

“£2,092 is in the possession of the police and will be transferred from them in 28 days.”

Representing Phillips, Sunyana Sharma agreed the accepted amount to be paid on behalf of her client.

Ordering the total sum of £4,527.70 be paid and confirming that Phillips must pay the outstanding amount of £2,435.70, Judge Evans said: “That is all matters, you are free to go.”

Previously the court had heard that a 15-year-old girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said Phillips had supplied her with the drug and used “unpleasant” tactics to get money from her.

Prosecutor Martyn Booth said: “She was to tell the police that she had a friend in contact with the defendant.

“That friend was somebody who used the drug in question and he was the person who supplied the mephedrone to the friend.

“Her friend had obtained the mephedrone from the defendant and the friend gave her some to try.

"Because of issues going on in her life she developed a taste for it and she became a user of that drug.

“She also started buying that drug from this defendant who was her supplier.”

Phillips came second in the UK BBFF South Coast Championships bodybuilding competition in May last year.

David Reid, defending him at the sentencing hearing in December, told the court how he immersed himself in his bodybuilding after his partner suffered a miscarriage.

He said: “It was a particularly traumatic event for them both. He became depressed and matters got on top of him.

“He immersed himself in his bodybuilding and, in time, immersed himself in mephedrone which came with that.”

Mr Reid went on to tell the court that Phillips sold drugs to fund his own habit, making a small amount of money on the side.

Phillips was also required to undergo a rehabilitation requirement and issued with a restraining order against a teenage girl who he had dealt drugs to.
