MOTORISTS are facing severe delays after a crash on a busy Hampshire road.

Hampshire Police were called to Stoney Cross this morning after reports emerged that a vehicle – believed to be a black Mercedes – had fallen from the back of the truck towing it and into the central barrier.

Six-mile tailbacks along the eastbound A31 have built up and disruption is being reported as far west as Forest Corner.

It is not yet known if any persons were injured or if any other vehicles were involved.

A police spokesman said: “It appears to be a truck that was towing a car and the car fell off the trailer and hit the central reservation and that’s what’s blocked the A31."
