A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was rushed to a Southampton hospital following a stabbing.

The man was found with stab wounds and taken to Southampton General Hospital after the incident, which happened last night.

Emergency services were called to Holdenhurst Road in Bournemouth, near its junction with Madison Avenue, at 8.44pm.

A force spokesman said that officers, along with an ambulance crew, found a man with stab wounds at the scene.

“He was taken to Southampton General Hospital for treatment,” the spokesman said.

A 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

A 45-year-old woman from Bournemouth has also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Both remain in police custody this morning.

The victim is in a stable condition in hospital. He did not suffer any internal injuries, a force spokesperson confirmed.

Police activity on nearby Hamilton Road last night was connected to the investigation.

Residents said they saw police dogs, armed response units and forensics officers at the scene.

Saint Ledger’s Place, a cul-de-sac off Holdenhurst Road, was cordoned off for much of the evening.
