A HAMPSHIRE man was injured last night when a fire broke out in a flat.
Firefighters were sent to Cranbury Road in Eastleigh when they were alerted to a fire at a house which has been converted into two flats with reports of someone inside.
Two crews from Eastleigh and another from St Mary’s fire stations were sent to the scene at about 11.30pm with smoke billowing out of the property.
Everyone was outside of the property by the time they arrived but one man, whose age is not known, was treated at the scene with smoke inhalation injuries.
The extent of his injuries is not known.
Crew manager Peter Abbott from Eastleigh fire station said the fire had started in the kitchen.
“The fire was put out by removing something that was left on the hob.”
Using breathing apparatus, hose reel jets and pressure ventilation fans the crews were quickly able to put out the fire.
Mr Abbott said the fire was out within ten minutes with the property smoke-logged throughout.
