A CYCLIST is fighting for life today after a hit-and-run crash this morning.
Officers say a black Ford Transit van failed to stop after it involved in a collision with a male rider on the A338 near Fordingbridge just after 9.20am yesterday
The road has been closed in both directions and remained shut until around 4pm while police investigate the crash.
The cyclist was air lifted to Southampton General Hospital, and his condition is described as life-threatening.
PC Lucy Hawkins said: "We are appealing for any information to help us find the vehicle that failed to stop at the scene.
"We are asking for people to contact us if they have seen a black or dark blue Ford Transit flatbed vehicle with plates ranging from 2000-2013.
"The vehicle involved was last seen leaving the scene, driving along the A338 in the direction of Ringwood.
"If you think you have seen it please contact us immediately.
"We would also like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision and any motorists in the area with dash cam footage."
"The road is expected to be closed in both directions for a the next couple of hours as officers carry out their investigations."
