IT'S enough to make many a grown man cry or even "meow".
Bu that didn't stop Hampshire radio DJ Steve Power taking part in a sponsored leg wax and raising more than £2,000 for an Isle of Wight based cat charity.
The Wave 105 breakfast show presenter admitted "feline" rather sore having hot wax and strips applied to his "hairy" legs at the beauty salon in Poole.
Steve said: "I have to admit I was pretty nervous at first but Penny was pretty gentle and it wasn't as traumatic as I thought it would be.
"We had a lot of banter on air in the run up to the day and it helped to raise much needed funds for the Cats Society.
"All-in-all the day was really enjoyable and my pain was eased by the relaxing massage, facial cut and blow dry I received afterwards and I left the salon feeling totally refreshed."
Salon and spa owner, Robin James, said: "I heard Steve joking on air that he would rather have the hair on his legs removed than shave off the hair on his head, so I thought I would call his bluff and offer him the full treatment."
The Cats Society in Ryde provides a permanent sanctuary for elderly and poor cats as well as offering a help line to pet owners looking after sick cats.
