TWO more restaurants have signed up to Southampton’s £85 million new leisure complex.
Carluccio’s and The Diner will make their city debuts when WestQuay Watermark opens in December.
The 372 square metre Carluccio’s will serve Italian dishes from WestQuay’s lower level, next to M&S and John Lewis’s espresso bar.
The Diner is venturing outside London for the first time, occupying a 584 square metre unit on the lower promenade of Watermark, adjoining Waterstones in WestQuay.
The company serves American-style burgers, hotdogs and pancakes and has nine locations in the capital.
They are the latest restaurants to be announced, joining Nando’s, Bill’s, Jamie’s Italian, Hollywood Bowl, All Bar One and TGI Fridays.
Cosmo, Five Guys, Zizzi, Wahaca, Cau, Byron and Cabana have also been confirmed.
The Diner is the second brand to choose WestQuay Watermark as its first site outside London, after American barbecue diner Red Dog Saloon.
Describing Southampton as a “popular student and tourist city”, developer Hammerson said the development would “cement the centre’s position as the leading retail, dining and leisure destination in the region”.
Sarah Fox, head of restaurants and leisure, said: “Both Carluccio’s and The Diner are great additions to the line-up at both WestQuay and WestQuay Watermark and are also fantastic new dining options for Southampton.
"Already a retail and dining hub on the south coast, by continuing to attract new tenants to the city we demonstrate our ability to work with leading brands to deliver the very best customer experience possible.”
Marc Francis-Baum, co-founder of The Diner, said: “The Diner has been a huge success in London and we now feel that it is time to venture outside of the capital.
"Seeing Hammerson’s vision for WestQuay Watermark, which will transform Southampton’s dining offer, and having visited the site, this scheme is the perfect first destination to make our debut outside London.”
It comes two months after Carluccio’s pulled out of the running to fill a prime location in Winchester.
When complete, phase one of the centre will boast up to 20 restaurants, a luxury 10-screen cinema, a new retail unit and a public plaza.
Phase two could include a tower block with up to 240 flats, plus restaurants, office space, a hotel and parking.
