A TELECOMMUNICATIONS giant has been blasted by a top councillor after they left his neighbourhood “looking awful” after installing broadband.
Test Valley borough councillor Alan Dowden has called on Virgin Media to do more to keep communities like his in Valley Park clean after they undertook work in the street.
He fears – after they did work in the roads around Neath Way in the past few weeks – that Valley Park will “look like a disaster”.
Valley Park has recently won a Test Valley in Bloom gold award, but Cllr Dowden fears that the beauty of his community will lost.
He said the roads and pavements were left covered in mud and debris after the engineers completed their work.
“If they’re going to go through Valley Park like this they’re going to lie lit like a mess. It needs a steam clean. It’s made the place not only look untidy, it looks awful. It looks ghastly.
“I tried washing it myself after they left. They dug up the roads near me and it just won’t come off.”
Cllr Dowden has asked for them to come back and tidy up the roads.
He added: “I wonder if Richard Branson would like his tropical paradise island spoilt in such a way.”
