THE FIRST new homes in a flagship Southampton development are set to be unveiled within weeks.

Work is well underway at the Meridian Waterside development, the site of the former Meridian TV Studios, and fresh images have been released of how it will look.

As previously reported work began on the site in April after years of delays. An official groundbreaking event was staged to start work on the £40m project which will see 350 new homes built.

Led by developers Inland Homes the site is on the western side of the Northam Bridge on the banks of the River Itchen and the development will form a new gateway into the city.

The developer used Southampton Boat show to showcase how the new properties will look.

Vicki Noon, Sales and Marketing Director at Inland Homes said that the boast show was the ideal place to showcase the new homes to underline the link the developer had to the waterside property developments.

She added: “Both the Meridian Waterside and Chapel Riverside schemes have links to the Itchen riverside and are being designed to take full advantage of their waterside settlings.

“Visitors to the boat show will be able to see for themselves what these changing river frontages will bring to the city.”

The development includes four phases of development with one, two and three bedroom properties set over two to thirteen floors, which will be set in extensive courtyard gardens.

The development will be a mixture of help-to-buy and privately owned flats.

Developers said they hoped to “create a community” by including shops and parks in the scheme to regenerate the area into a ‘family friendly’ environment.

There will also be a publicly accessible park set alongside the Northam Road, which will enable access to a new riverside walk.

Inland announced that they will be launching 54 properties at Meridian Waterside to the market soon.
