SOUTHAMPTON adrenaline junkies now have another chance to try the world's largest inflatable assault course - and could reach speeds of 40mph on a slide.

People looking to test their physical abilities will have their chance to take on an enormous inflatable slide when it comes to the city for a second time.

Now Southampton Common will see the return of Gung Ho’s Seriously Fun 5K and 5,000 people are expected to take part.

Featuring ten obstacles, including three set to debut next year, it is the biggest course of its kind anywhere on the planet and contains enough air to pump up more than 100 million footballs.

It was designed by CBeebies presenter Alex Winters, and he has high hopes for the event.

He said: "As soon as last year’s visit had come to an end I knew I wanted to bring Gung-Ho! back to the south coast.

"Everyone was so up for Gung-Ho! and helped make it one of our best events yet.

"We are so excited to have secured The Common again as our event space, which will provide the perfect backdrop for our fun-filled run.

“We have added some incredible obstacles for 2017 and made a few tweaks here and there to make the Gung-Ho! Experience even more exciting and memorable."

‘Gung-Ho’ comes from a Chinese word meaning to “work together” and was later used by the US army as a battle cry to show an expression of spirit they needed before going to war.

Gung Ho! was founded back in 2014 while Alex was sat in front of the TV watching Ninja Warrior with his three children.

That sparked a new craze with thousands taking part in Gung-Ho!’s first three events in 2015, before the tour this year that featured Southampton as one of its stops.

With many runners taking part for charity this year, thousands of pounds are expected to be raised for good causes this time around at the event on Saturday, June 17.
