THREE sets of Southampton parents received extra special gifts on Christmas Day.
Kathryn Rayner, 28, and Jamie Allsopp, 30, were the first in the city to welcome their daughter Chloe Elizabeth into the world five days late, weighing 7lb 11.5oz, at 12.10am on December 25.
The thrilled first-time parents, who had the tot at Princess Anne Hospital, said: “It has been a very emotional day. We are looking forward to going home. We are planning to have our Christmas and dinner on Boxing Day with Chloe’s grandparents who are very excited to meet her.”
The second baby, Ivy, was born to Megan and Paul Cox, from Shirley, and arrived weighing 8lbs 8oz at 12.24am at the New Forest Birth Centre in Ashurst.
Paul said it was his and his wife’s first child, and Megan had been in labour for about 20 hours before Ivy arrived.
He added: “Megan did amazing, it is the best Christmas present ever – she is so cute.
“Both sets of grandparents are thrilled.
“They have looked after us here and made us an impromptu Christmas dinner. The staff here couldn’t have been better – they were amazing. We are planning to have our Christmas next weekend.
“I think having your birthday on Christmas is good because you’ll always have your family around and will never have to go school on your birthday. I think we will probably let her have a birthday party in the summer.”
Sienna Sanders was the third baby of the day to arrive, at 7.46pm at the New Forest Birth Centre, weighing 6lb 13oz.
The tiny tot is the second child of Joanne Veal and Arron Sanders – the pair already have a son, Cruz.
Joanne said: “Cruz was very excited to have a baby sister – he wanted her to come on Christmas.
“He was so good, I went into labour about 2.30pm and we did not get back until 11pm.
“He opened some on his nanny’s presents but waited for us to get back before doing the rest.”
