DETECTIVES have launched a nationwide manhunt in their bid to track down a thief who targets Hampshire's elderly.
William Cook, who sometimes goes by the name Brian Voles, is being hunted by officers in connedcttion with a number of distraction burglaries.
Cook, 67, is on the run from police who have warrants issued for his arrest because he has been recalled to prison.
In May this year the Daily Echo revealed Cook's identity and published his picture as the search to find him was stepped up in Hampshire.
Now they are turning to BBC's Crimewatch programme in the hope that someone will recognise him and come forward to reveal his whereabouts.
Det Sgt Phil Jones, based at Lynhurst CID, will be in the London studio next Monday night when the programme is aired to take calls.
"While we would not wish to alarm the public, we believe he poses a significant threat and possible danger to elderly people. It is essential that anyone who has any information about his whereabouts contacts us."
