ARE we alone in the universe?
People across Hampshire are divided over whether UFOs and extraterrestrials really exist.
Following the Daily Echo's story yesterday about mysterious orange lights spotted drifting across Southampton's night sky, we went out on the city's streets to find out what people thought.
And what better way to get people talking than appearing as a Klingon from the long-running TV series Star Trek.
Some were adamant that there was alien life out there - even though most admitted they had never seen any evidence. Others dismissed the notion as "crazy".
Meanwhile, readers of the Daily Echo's website were having their say too.
Theories ranged from aircraft landing lights to wealthy aliens having a look at the area before deciding whether to put in a bid to take over Saints.
Marc, of Thornhill, wrote: "I'm sorry, but if there was alien activity out there we would have known a long time ago.
"re we forgetting we have an _airport across the way at Eastleigh? The planes have a pair of lights on the wings and to the eye they are going slowly."
However, Gemma from Chandler's Ford believes there is something out there - and she too reported strange goings-on in the skies on Monday night.
She wrote: "At approximately 11:30pm, I noticed funny flashes of light in the sky. At first I thought it was lightning, but the flashes were green and yellow and it lasted for about ten minutes. It was very scary. I thought nothing of it, but after seeing this, something was definitely going on."
