A CAR fire and a crash caused severe delays on the M27.

The crash happened on the M27 westbound near Bursledon earlier this morning and left one lane blocked.

Traffic was building and disruption was being reported as far east as junction 10 for Fareham, but conditions have returned to normal in the area.

Meanwhile two lanes of the eastbound carriageway were blocked while emergency services put out a vehicle fire.

The incident happened between junction 11 for Fareham and junction 12 for Portsmouth and the vehicle has now been removed from the road.

Drivers are advised to check their routes before travelling.
