A HAMPSHIRE MP is set to run one of the most famous marathon in the country for the first time to help reduce deaths in young people.
Eastleigh MP Mims Davies will run the London Marathon on April 23 to raise vital cash for Cardiac Risk in the Young.
Money will be used to seek to reduce deaths in young people from undiagnosed heart diseases.
Ms Davies said: “I am thrilled to be running in this huge event to support Cardiac Risk in the Young – an organisation which does brilliant work to tackle tragic deaths such as the death of the daughter of two of my constituents Graham and Ann Hunter.”
The event was run in 1981 for the first time and runners have since raised more than £830 million for good causes.
This year Ms Davies is getting ready to take part to it along with other MPs.
She said: “I am squeezing in training sessions around my very busy work as the MP for Eastleigh because this is too good an opportunity to miss to promote this great charity and all the work that they do to save lives.”
She will also be running the Eastleigh 10k in March as part of her schedule.
