The Blue Anchor public house at 2 London Road, Portsmouth, Hampshire, has been sold on a brand new lease to local licensee, Kevin Dore, through the Winchester office of leading licensed property agents, Christie + Co, on behalf of Punch Taverns plc.

Kevin Dore formerly ran the Blue Anchor as manager and also owns the lease of another Punch pub, the King's Hotel situated opposite the King's Theatre in Albert Road, Southsea.

The Blue Anchor was rebuilt in the 1940s to replace a hotel which previously stood on the site and was bombed during World War II. A single-storey construction, the premises comprise one large main bar, a trade terrace and car park.

The Blue Anchor was one of 500 ex-Spirit managed houses which have, in the last 12 months, been successfully assigned to the lease market through Christie + Co on behalf of Punch Taverns. The success of the conversion programme to date has pointed to an extremely buoyant market for leased pub opportunities.

Christie + Co sought an asking price of £21,000 for the new lease on the Blue Anchor; the annual rent is currently £35,000.
