The man who died following a collision between a milk float and a heavy goods vehicle in Alresford yesterday has been named as Allan Knight.
The 53-year-old milkman, of Lime Close, Colden Common died as a result of the collision at 4.47am in Winchester Road.
Another man, aged 32, suffered serious head injuries and was taken to Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester by ambulance, where he remains.
His injuries are described as serious but not life-threatening.
Officers at Cosham Roads Policing Unit are investigating the circumstances of the collision and renewing an appeal for witnesses.
Sergeant Wayne Voller said: "I would like to hear from anyone who saw the incident itself or either vehicle in the area of the A31 and Winchester Road travelling from Winchester towards New Alresford.
"The vehicles are a white and orange Unigate milk delivery Ford Transit and a white Dairy Crest delivery lorry."
Winchester Road was closed between Alresford town centre and Lady Croft Roundabout for nearly eight hours to allow investigations to be conducted and recovery of the vehicles.
Depot manager John Gallienne, depot manager, said today: "I have known him for 30 years. This has come as a blow."
The Dairycrest lorry was based at a depot in Shirley, Southampton.
