POLICE have arrested a lorry driver in connection with the fatal crash that killed an Alresford milkman on his round.
Allan Knight, 53, of Lime Close, Colden Common, a milkman for 30 years, died in the collision on Tuesday morning in Winchester Road, Alresford.
He worked for Dairy Crest from its depot in Bar End, Winchester.
A 32-year old Southampton man, the driver of a 7.5 tonne Dairy Crest lorry, was injured and taken for treatment at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester. He has since been discharged.
Police arrested the man, who has not been named, on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has been bailed until November 7.
Police renewed their appeal for witnesses to contact Cosham roads policing unit on 0845 045 4545 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
A spokesman for Dairy Crest said the arrested man "was extremely distressed and is now on sick leave.
"Everybody at Dairy Crest is devastated by this terrible accident. The police have visited us and we are co-operating with them."
