AN INTREPID Southampton student is preparing for a trip of a lifetime this summer to Costa Rica where he will carry out conservation work.
Kyle Pim, who is in his final year at Itchen College, is taking part in the expedition with the charity Raleigh International.
For five weeks he will build paths and shelters, work on conservation projects and help people living in the South American country obtain fresh clean water.
The 18-year-old, who is currently studying A levels in environmental science, geography and travel and tourism, is carrying out sponsored events to fund his trip.
He said: "I am really interested in the environment and conservation projects and aware of how important it is to take care and conserve natural things.
"The Raleigh International project is not only giving me a chance to help the environment and people in the developing world, but also to see and work in Costa Rica, giving me practical experience that can only benefit my future studies and career."
