A HAMPSHIRE railway line has reopened following the death of a man on the line this morning.
Rail chaos hit the south after the man plunged to his death in front of a rush hour express train.
Witnesses watched in horror as the 45-year-old fell into the path of the train travelling at 90 miles per hour this morning.
The drama happened as the 9.01am Brockenhurst to Poole train travelled through the small Hinton Admiral station on the Hampshire and Dorset border.
The man died instantly and the incident is not being treated as suspicious.
The incident, which was reported at 9.13am, caused widespread rail delays across the Hampshire and Dorset area.
All trains between Brockenhurst and Bournemouth were immediately suspended and replaced with buses, said a spokesman for South West Trains.
The line was able to reopen at 12.35pm and services are now slowly getting back to normal.
Officials from the police and ambulance services retrieved the body and carried out investigations at the scene.
A spokesman for the British Transport Police said: "A man jumped off the platform in front of the train. Power to the railway lines was turned off while investigations took place."
Crews from both South Central Ambulance Service and South West Ambulance Service attended, along with officers from the British Transport Police.
