MORE than 500 ale connoisseurs enjoyed brews of all kinds at Eastleigh Beer Festival.

With beers from as far afield as the Hebrides, and local tipples to taste as well, there were more than 50 real ales, and 30 ciders and craft beers available at the event at Eastleigh Football Club.

Best-sellers were those that travelled more than 600 miles from the Isle of Skye, with punters keen to get a dram of the Scottish brew, with Romsey brewery Flack Manor coming a close second.

Rhubarb, toffee apple and fruit flavours were also a hit with cider drinkers.

There was music from Tom Jones’ support act Charlie McAuley, Southampton Ukelele Jam, Double Take and The Sweet Chunks comedy trio, the Saturday night closed with Eastleigh’s own rock outfit New Age.

Events manager Dan Barnes said the event went “really well, despite the weather”.
