A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of immigration offences after being discovered in the back of a trailer at a Hampshire service station.
Police were called to Sutton Scotney Services off the A34 north of Winchester, where they detained the man on suspicion of immigration offences.
A driver who was at the services at the time told the Daily Echo that the man who was detained was in his 20s to 30s, had been at the back of a trailer.
The driver who asked not to be named, said: "I was driving down the A34 and I stopped at the services to have something to eat and I could see a guy talking to the police and he said there was something in the back of the trailer that was moving."
The driver, said the police wrapped the man in a blanket and detained him, when asked for more details about the detained man, the driver added: "I did not get a good look at him."
A spokesman for Hampshire Constabulary said: "Our officers attended the Sutton Scotney Services shortly before 9am today to detain a male on suspicion of immigration offences.
"He remains in custody at this time."
The incident happened shortly before 9am this morning.
