WEST Enders are being urged to be vigilant after vandals damaged safety surfacing at a village playground.
They targeted the wetpour safety surfacing for swings at the Barnsland Recreation Ground.
A parish council spokesman said: "Wetpour is a very durable surface and it would not have been easy to cut. It must have taken them some hours. They must have been pretty determined, bored and mindless vandals."
A resident alerted the parish council about the damage.
The spokesman added: "This has now been patched by contractors at further expense to West End residents as it was a safety concern."
The village authority is appealing for parishioners to be vigilant and report any acts of vandalism.
If anyone has any information of who is responsible for this, contact West End Parish Council on 023 8046 2371.
