A GIANT Ferris wheel is set to roll into Southampton next week – and lucky Echo readers are in with a chance of winning a free family ride.
The 115ft attraction, dubbed the “UK’s tallest mobile Ferris wheel”, is due to be erected in the Bargate in time for Monday, September 18.
After arriving in Southampton on Friday, from the Great Dorset Steam Fair, its operators Eventive Funtime will spend the next three days constructing the sky high attraction.
Once completed, the Sky View Observation Wheel, which was manufactured in the Netherlands, will offer a unique aerial view of the city.
Riders will be able to pick out Southampton’s sights from the attraction’s lofty peak, as well as a sneak glance at this year’s theyachtmarket.com Boat Show, which begins on Friday.
Operators, Eventive Funtime, are even hoping lucky riders will be able to see the Isle of Wight on a clear day.
Ordinarily, the five minute ride costs £4-per-person and £12 for a family of four.
But 25 lucky families will be able to ride for FREE after the Daily Echo teamed up with Eventive Funtime for a reader competition.
To be in with a chance of winning a family ticket, for up to four people, all you have to do is answer these three questions:
1. What country was the Sky View Observation Wheel manufactured in?
2. What is the wheel’s total height when fully set up?
3. What was the last event attended by the wheel before coming to Southampton?
Please send your answers, accompanied by your name, address and telephone number, to the email address promotions@dailyecho.co.uk, with the subject “Big Wheel Competition”.
Alternatively, you can post your answers and contact details to Southern Daily Echo, POBOX 543, Southampton, SO16 9ZQ.
All entries must be in by 5pm on Monday, September 18. Normal Newsquest rules apply.
Winners will receive a confirmation letter and winners’ details will be passed to Eventine Funtime for confirmation.
