AN 83-year-old woman has died after a two-vehicle collision on a busy Hampshire road.
She has been named as Beryl Laine of Lymington. She died at Southampton General Hospital after suffering internal injuries.
The pensioner had been travelling as a front seat passenger in a blue Rover 400 going towards Cadnam when the accident happened on the A337 at the junction with Beechwood Road in Bartley.
The car was in collision with a black Mercedes 200 travelling in the opposite direction.
It is believed the collision occurred as the Rover vehicle was turning right into Beechwood Road at 11.28am yesterday.
The driver of the Rover, an 85-year-old man, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Southampton General Hospital while the driver of the Mercedes, a 50-year-old man from Swindon, was uninjured.
A section of the road where the accident happened was closed for several hours as traffic police carried out an investigation at the scene.
Any witnesses to the accident should contact Totton Roads Policing Unit on 0845 045 4545 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
