"This was the 1st time I've taken part in the Race for Life so was a little nervous about it all. I ran the 5k run at Southampton Common on Sunday 15 July in 28 minutes without stopping at all so am really chuffed.
I ran for my boyfriend's brothers Dad - David Ingram who died from cancer a few years ago.
I ran with my footie mate Frankie Lanham, she kept me going when I wanted to stop and walk.
The crowds also were really encouraging along the way.
I must admit I hadn't trained as much as I'd liked to as I developed shin splints during my training. I thought then that I was stuffed as I was in so much pain just walking and as I only had a few weeks left until the event so I had to rest to make sure I was fit enough to run and keep up a good pace.
I really enjoyed the day and will definitely be doing it again next year. I might even be taking part in the mixed 10k Race for Life at Beaulieu in October this year!!!
