A teenager was raped as she walked home in Southampton, police have revealed.

Detectives have today stepped up their hunt for the attacker who struck in the early hours of Saturday morning.

It happened after the 19-year-old had left her friend's in St Annes Road and walked along Station Road and into Cranbury Road.

Then at around 3am she was pulled into Radstock Road by a man who then raped her.

She eventually managed to push him off and ran away.

The attacker is described as white, 5ft 8ins tall with short brown dark hair.

He's thought to be aged in his early to mid 30s and had a local accent. He was wearing a black t-shirt and blue jeans.

Officers are keen to hear from anyone in the area of Spring Road, Radstock Road, St Annes Road or Cranbury Road who between 2.15am and around 3.30am thinks they may have seen the man or the victim who was wearing a distinctive bright pink top.

Detective Inspector Chris Fitchet said: "This type of attack remains unusual in Southampton and we want to find the man responsible. The victim was left very upset by her ordeal."
