MEMBERS of a Hampshire golf club have slammed a local council for the conditions of the once famous course.
Those using the Fleming Park Golf Course say Eastleigh Borough Council, who own the site, need to do more to restore it to its former glory.
Members at the club also say they fear the course is being deliberately run down to make way for housing developments.
And they say gangs of youths regularly taunt golfers while they are playing because there is nothing to keep them off the course.
Dozens of members now say that unless the situation improves they will vote with their feet and abandon the club for better cared for courses.
However Eastleigh Borough Council has denied the accusations, instead saying it is happy with the way the course is being managed by contractors DC Leisure - who also run the attached leisure centre.
