THEY were never wanted by Hampshire residents in the first place.
Now controversial fortnightly bin collections could be ditched across the county after the Government published new advice recommending food waste be collected every week.
One 2,000-home trial of the scheme is already under way in Hampshire - ironically in Eastleigh, whose council was one of the first in the UK to introduce alternative weekly collections more than a decade ago.
Other local authorities across the region have also said they would consider re-introducing weekly food waste collections if the facilities were in place to deal with the food waste.
