A MAJOR Hampshire motorway was closed last night after a plane reported difficulty landing at Southampton Airport.
A stretch of the M27 near the airport was sealed off after a Cessna 310 light aircraft reported problems with its undercarriage shortly after 8.40pm.
Emergency services were put on high alert as they liased with the pilot of the twin propeller, six-seater aircraft.
However the plane managed to land at the airport safely, and no one was injured.
A police spokesman said that the M27 was reopened shortly after the aeroplane landed.
