THEY are some of the best burgers in the country and next month could see their creator recognised at a special butcher award ceremony in London.
Southampton butchers Upton's of Bassett have beaten off competition from 10,000 other British butchers to take the third spot in the UK best burger competition.
It has been a very successful year for the shop, having also picked up two awards for their pork pies and one for their Italian pork sausages.
The prize-winning burgers are made from pork and beef mince mixed with salt, cayenne, white pepper with a touch of tabasco and worcester sauce along with a little touch of magic butcher Simon Broadribb is keeping to himself.
Mr Broadribb, pictured, who will also be heading off to the UK Best Butchers Awards in London in November, said: "I'm delighted that the burgers have been named as one of the best in the UK - certainly our customers seem to enjoy them and are always coming back for more."
