SHE has spent the past 48 hours trying her very best to get as far away from her bridegroom-to-be as possible - but it was all in pursuit of her dream wedding.

Runaway bride Lesley Cawsley, pictured left with fiance Stuart Morgan, managed to beg, borrow and blag her way a massive 3,729 miles from Fareham to Toronto in Canada to win her ultimate dream Caribbean wedding.

With just £10 she hitchhiked rides with lorries, a pink limo and families on their holidays all the way to Glasgow Airport where she made a 118 call for businesses in Hampshire willing to pay for a flight.

She called All Signs in Hedge End and they agreed to pay for her flight to Toronto.

With her competitor Rachael Denness, from Southampton, only reaching Berlin, Lesley won the Power FM and Sandals competition by 3,094 miles.

Fiance Stuart Morgan, who met Lesley nine years ago while at Bridgemary School in Gosport, said: "We are just over the moon. To get all the way to Toronto is absolutely amazing and I am so proud of Lesley, she has more guts than I do.

"The past two days have been hell for me, not knowing where she was or how she was doing, but this makes all that worry worthwhile. I never in a million years expected her to get that far."
