TWO years after he lost his brother in a car crash, a Hampshire man along with his friends and family have raised almost £3,000 for the charity Brake.

Adam Harvey, 19, died in July 2005 in a car crash after the 18-year-old driver of the vehicle he was travelling in lost control of the vehicle while she was drunk.

His family was devastated. Adam had only just returned from a gap year abroad and was planning to start at Bournemouth University a few months later.

Last year as the family from Swanmore marked the first anniversary of his death, Adam's parents Rosemary and Paul Harvey, along with their two surviving sons, held an event to raise money for the charity Brake and to give Adam's friends the chance to meet up again and remember him.

Now a year on from that first fundraiser, Adam's brother Chris along with friends and family have again been raising money for Brake, which campaigns to reduce deaths on UK roads, this time by taking on the London Triathlon.

The event saw Chris, 24, along with his wife Tasha and friends Lucy Elphick, Henry Shearer and Lawrence Foreman-Peck complete a 750m swim in London's Docklands, before hoping on their bikes for a 20km cycle followed by a 5km run.

Chris, pictured top with fellow fundraisers, said: "I wanted to raise awareness of the road safety charity Brake whilst also raising some money for their valuable work."
