TIME is running out for pet owners who think their animal companions are in with a chance of being crowned the Daily Echo's Pet Idol 2007.

We are on the look-out for Hampshire's most adorable pet - but there's only a few days left to get your entry in.

The Daily Echo has teamed up with Totton's Creature Comforts and Aquatic Centre to bring you this year's competition.

There are great prizes for both the winners and runners-up, including certificates, photographs and supplies of food for a meal a day for six months, three months or a month. The amount is equivalent to 15kg per month for a dog and 2kg for a cat or other small animal.

Pet food firm Royal Canin is providing the prizes and there will be vouchers for every pet taking part.

To enter, all you have to do is arrange for a colour photograph of your pet to be taken free of charge by animal photographer Richard Harris at the Reginald Harris photographic studio in Hill Lane, Southampton.

But sittings are only taking place until Friday, August 24 so you must hurry.

Once all the pictures have been taken they will be published in the Daily Echo in a supplement on Wednesday, September 26 and readers can vote for their favourites.

During the final round of the competition a panel of judges will decide the first, second and third place winners of each category (dog, cat and any other), as well as one overall champion.
