THOUSANDS of pounds worth of Class A drugs have been stopped from reaching the streets of Hampshire following a police raid on a crack house in Southampton.
Wraps of heroin and crack cocaine with a street value of more than £8,000 were netted in the operation.
The raid, on an address in Westbury Road, Regent's Park, came after a police tip-off.
Up to 15 officers from Hampshire Constabulary's Drug Investigation Team, along with officers from the Force Support Unit, raided the address on Wednesday shortly after 3pm.
It is one of the biggest hauls recovered by police in Hampshire in recent months.
Det Insp Dave Morgan, of Southampton's Priority Crime Unit, said: "This is one of the largest seizures we've had over the last month and I'm confident that this will at least have a short-term impact on drug supplies in the city.
Meanwhile two people arrested in connection with the raid, a 54-year-old man and a 54-year-old woman, have now been charged.
