A GROCERY shop that has been serving the people of the New Forest for 110 years is up for sale for more than £1.5 million.
As well as buying Burley Stores, which includes a recently refurbished and extended restaurant and the goodwill that goes with it, the purchaser will be buying six shop units in the tourist trap Burley Mall and a four-bedroom family home with its own private garden.
Freeholders Jill and Robin Williams have been serving throngs of villagers and visitors at Burley Stores at The Cross since 1980.
Now past retirement age, they feel it is time to sell up and move on.
Mrs Williams, 70, said she and her husband now planned to move to Dorset where they hoped to run a bed and breakfast house in the county.
