A seven year-old Titchfield girl, who has just learned to swim, has saved her pal from drowning.
It was during a family trip to the seaside which nearly turned to tragedy.
Kieran Martin, aged four, from Fareham, slipped off rocks and fell into the water at Lee-on-Solent.
Brave Amber Horton did not think twice as she dived into action and swam over and grabbed hold of him.
By using every ounce of strength, she pulled the boy to the surface and dragged him back to the shore. Kieran cut his legs on the rocks and was extremely shaken. But he was otherwise okay after his ordeal.
Kieran cannot swim and his feet could not touch the floor.
He said that he just went under the water and hurt his legs on the rocks.
Now Amber, who has been awarded a certificate for saving Kieran's life, has been hailed a hero.
