IT is enough to make most people turn white with fear.

But for supergran Doreen Oury, launching herself out of an aeroplane at the age of 84 is just another box to tick.

The great-grandmother, who lives in Chandler's Ford, is planning to climb into a jumpsuit next week and take on a daredevil skydive to raise money for the Brendoncare Foundation.

And she says she can't wait for the jump, which will see her harnessed to a professional before taking to the skies and parachuting over Wiltshire.

She said: "It's just something I feel I need to do. I need a challenge and now that I'm 84 I want to do something different. I have had a hip replacement in the past.

"But I have had a good life and been very lucky so I thought why not try something new while also helping a charity."

Doreen decided to take on the challenge after reading about different ways to raise money for the foundation, which helps provide care for elderly people.

Her plans amazed staff at Eric Robinson Solicitors in Chandler's Ford, who are now helping her out with her fundraising bid.

And she revealed she was totally unfazed by the prospect of telling her two daughters, six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren about her daunting challenge.

Doreen added: "I may be 84, but I'm not an old 84. If I get squashed then so be it. I have always been active - people say I'm brave but lots of people have done it before."
