POLICE have released an e-fit of a van driver who conned £1,000 out of an elderly Hampshire woman.
The woman, 80, was walking along Princes Road in Romsey at 10.10am on August 22 when she approached by a blue transit van.
The driver of the van told the pensioner he had worked for her in the past and thought that she had a problem with her drains.
They returned to the woman's home address in Duttons Road where he told her the work would cost approximately £1,000 and he needed the money immediately.
The woman went to the bank and withdrew the money. The van driver is described as white, in his early 30s, around 5ft 8ins tall, with short, curly, dark hair.
He is said to have a rounded face and is well spoken.
Anyone who saw a man or vehicle matching this description in the area in suspicious circumstances should contact CID at Eastleigh police station on 0845 045 45 45.
