A DISABLED Hampshire yachtsman is calling on the public to welcome him home.
Geoff Holt is on the verge of sailing into the record books as the first disabled person to sail singlehanded around Great Britain.
On May 20, he set off from Hamble in his 15ft specially-modified trimaran Freethinker.
After 109 days at sea during which he has covered more than 1,600 miles, the 41-year-old is due to cross the finish line off Calshot Spit at around 10am tomorrow.
Geoff, who is paralysed from the chest down, is hoping that as he completes the last leg of the trip, dubbed his "Personal Everest", crowds of people will be there to watch his grand return.
The best vantage points to see Geoff will be either at Hamble Point or Hamble Quay when he returns to dry land.
For those to the west of Southampton, Calshot Spit will give some great views.
Geoff said: "It would be wonderful if people came down to wave me in. To have people welcome me home would be fantastic, not just for me but for the whole crew.
"I'm so excited to be coming home - this really has been a massive expedition for me."
