This was the first league game of the season and Compton spirits were high following a triumphant tournament win three weeks prior.

The game got off to a flying start with Compton having the majority of the possession and creating chances, and in the words of assistant manager Dane "It was like the Tadburn goal was covered in cling film".

This early pressure paid off when Ben Rouse picked up the ball on the left and drove into the Tadburn area, he then unleashed a right footed shot, which flew into the bottom left corner giving Compton the lead.

Tadburn then had a spell of possession which led to their striker having a right footed shot, which was brilliantly saved by George, and was then turned away by a defender for a corner.

It was a few minutes after the spell of Tadburn possession that Jack and Duane linked up delightfully with a 1-2 just outside the Tadburn area, Jack then made a B-line towards the Tadburn goal, and sublimely finished in the top right corner, 2-0 Compton at Half Time.

The second half started brightly with Compton picking up where they left off in the first half, with lots of possession and time on the ball, it was only a matter of time before they added to their 2-0 lead.

Ten minutes into the second half this was the case, as a cross came in from the left, bobbled around the area for a bit and was pounced upon by Captain Courageous Alex Duthie who volleyed home from ten yards to make it 3-0.

Tadburn then had their best chance of the game when a cross came in from the right and was sweetly met by a Tadburn player; it looked a certain goal however Compton keeper George had other ideas and was so desperate to get his clean sheet bonus from his parents he saved the shot with his face.

He ran the risk of ending up with a broken nose or having to wear false teeth, but the extra cash for a clean sheet spurred him on and it was a fantastic save which was greatly applauded by both sets of fans.

Following George's heroics, it seemed to inspire the Compton players to add an extra 10% and Compton capitalized on some tired Tadburn defending when Ben got his second goal of the game after Jack Pearson had "Cristiano Ronaldo'd" a few players with some outrageous trickery down the right wing.

Tadburn had the chance of a late consolation goal when their number 10 saw his curling left footed shot just miss the far post.

Duane was still full of energy and nearly added a fifth but for an excellent save from the Tadburn keeper.

Just as the game was coming to a close, Sam Jurd made a run from left back and after nut-megging a player, saw his long range effort wriggle past the Tadburn keeper to make it 5-0 to Compton.

This was the perfect start for Compton who will be hoping for a successful season in their first year in the Tyro league.

Everyone at the game also had the chance to meet the Compton Youth sponsor, Nicholas Sodha and his family, he is hugely appreciated at the club and we look forward to seeing him and his family throughout the season.
