A MOTORCYCLIST has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a collision with a car on a Hampshire motorway.
The 60-year-old driver is said to be in a serious but stable condition following the collision on the M27 earlier today.
Emergency services were called to the eastbound stretch of the M27 just after 8.10am between junction nine for Segensworth and junction ten for Fareham.
Officers said the man had been riding a red Honda motorbike when he collided with a Vauxhall Astra.
He received what were described as serious head and internal injuries to his abdomen.
The accident also left the driver of the Astra needing hospital treatment for minor back and neck injuries.
Police initially had to shut the whole of the busy carriageway while emergency services treated the injured biker.
The closure led to massive tailbacks along the road as specialist roads policing unit officers began an investigation while others cleared the wreckage from the road.
However police managed to reopen the inside lane after 45-minutes, while the two outside lanes were reopened shortly before 10am.
Both the injured motorists were taken to the Queen Alexander Hospital in Cosham.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Cosham Roads Policing Unit on 0845 045 4545.
