A TEN day campaign of violence and vandalism has prompted bus chiefs to cut two routes through a Southampton housing estate.
Solent Blue Line evening services through Thornhill have now been shortened to protect passengers after gangs of youths started launching items at the vehicles.
After 8.30pm everyday, the Bluestar 18 and 19 buses will stop at Tatwin Crescent before they reach the worst affected Burgoyne Road area.
The cost of damage to buses is already thought to have run in to the thousands and company bosses are becoming increasingly concerned for the safety of those on board.
A spokesman for Solent Blue Line said most of the incidents seemed to happen between 8.30pm and 10pm and that drivers had reported a sharp increase in attacks in recent weeks.
He added that the service would only be reinstated once the vandalism had subsided.
