A HUGE traffic jam was building up today on one of the major roads through Hampshire after a shunt.
Several cars were involved in the accident on the westbound A31 approaching the Picket Post junction between Cadnam and Ringwood.
Vehicles were already queuing back to Stoney Cross about 11am.
Motorists looking to avoid the long tailbacks through the New Forest have also been suffering from delays on the A35 out of Southampton.
Traffic began building up around midday as drivers sought a new route out of the city via Totton.
A police spokesperson said no accident had been reported along the route.
