POLICE were today asking motorists to avoid a main route to the A34 in Hampshire after a fatal accident.
A woman died in a head-on collision with a lorry on the B4640 at Newtown, near the Tot Hill junction.
Emergency services are still at the scene following the accident just after 3pm and police were expecting the road near Newbury to be shut for several hours.
Delays were expected on roads near the incident including the busy A34 dual carriageway.
