SOUTHAMPTON-based cruise liner QE2 has broken down on a Mediterranean cruise because of a mechanical fault.
Owners Cunard said there were about 1,750 passengers on board the world famous ship when it failed off Croatia.
A spokesman for the shipping company said the QE2, which left Southampton last Friday, had been due to set sail from the Adriatic port of Dubrovnik.
An engineer had been sent to fix the fault but it was not known how long the repairs would take, he added.
