SPECTACLES donated to charity by residents in Southampton will be taken to help people in Africa.
Libraries and resource centres were inundated with donations after an appeal to help those with eyesight problems in Zambia.
Internet retailer 2020-Online.co.uk received over 200 pairs in just four weeks.
The glasses were collected on behalf of Vision Aid Oversees who are campaigning for affordable eye care.
Spokesman for the charity Sam Evans said: "With the correct spectacles people can learn, work and achieve a quality of life otherwise completely out of their reach."
The glasses will be cleaned and sorted by prescription before being taken to the third world.
